Is there a doctor… in the hotel?
Have you or your kids ever got hurt or sick while travelling (maybe some of you had the infamous ‘Tourista’…). As you will agree, this could easily ruin what started as a nice holiday. Fortunately for guests, hotels train some of their employees in first aid. A few of them also have doctors on call .
Medical Emergencies
A variety of medical emergencies can occur in hotels, ranging from minor injuries to life-threatening situations. Some of the most common incidents include:
- Burns and scalds in the restaurant area. Kitchens are hectic work environments with lots of hot surfaces, pots, pans and open flame stoves. For this reason, kitchen staff are always at risk of burning themselves.
- Another common risk in hotel kitchens is that of staff catching themselves on sharp objects such as chef knives. These tools are incredibly sharp and can cause deep cuts.
- Although hotel restaurants may take every precaution to ensure the quality of food, there is always a risk of food contamination and poisoning.
